Something I've learned during my time here at Lights For All Occasions is that decor items can be used beyond their intended uses. Cake stands are a perfect example, and I'd love to share some ideas with you!
First, a moment of full disclosure: I am a sucker for these dessert pedestals! I've collected several over the years and will find any excuse to use them for any styled event or purpose just to show them off. These lovelies deserve to be seen and enjoyed!
I'm going to show you a few different cake stand designs I've come up with for your weddings, gatherings and parties. These displays are super easy to put together ... each idea below includes a visual tutorial as well as a product list, making it a cinch to recreate.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Naturally Elegant Centerpieces
I don’t know about you, but I believe that any wedding table centerpiece needs to make a grand statement. I mean, Love is Grand, right? These high quality porcelain cake stands are detailed with historically accurate vintage motifs, and some are created in fresh pastel colors, adding subtle tones to your designs. I LOVE the patterns and scalloped edge of the bottom one. Make it easy for guests to find their designated tables with a tall table number sign, and then complement the glossy porcelain of your pedestals with realistic garlands (in this case, I chose the wisteria for its delicate and airy quality, and the eucalyptus for its very fresh and natural tone). For good measure, I've strung some sparkling garland lights as a background to keep the mood magical!

Springing with Delight Guest Book Table
These ruffled cake stands are adorable! Did I mention they are adorable? The Best. Cake Stands. Ever. I love their matte texture and am just smitten by the gold trim ... they pair so well with the softness of our decorative tulips and roses. And what is a guest book table without the guest book? These charming vintage books are perfect for writing well wishes and words of wisdom to the happy couple! I threw in a few votive candles, too, to cast a romantic glow over this display. Candles = Romance, amirite?

Simply Chic Drink Station
This drink station not only works for stylish weddings, but also for holiday parties, birthday gatherings, baby showers, or just if you want to gussy up dinner or brunch! A clean white cake stand is super versatile and always ready for any style or display. I added gold sequin balls and a two toned vase to give this cake stand a crisp and modern look. And, of course, straws and schmancy geometric tumblers are a must. So easy, and adds the perfect tone of relaxed sophistication to your party!

Color Me Happy Dessert Bar
I let the color do the talking for this dessert bar ... because these colors are really speaking to me! Totally in love with them. The sturdy melamine cake stands are great individually, but they are SO charming when used all together. To add even more pizazz and pattern and texture, I set the scene with our floral plates--inspired by vintage Parisian wallpaper, how chic is that?--matching tumblers, colorful flatware, and the new love of my life, the wood beaded garland. It adds a je ne sais quoi that's as Boho Chic as it is Vintage Charm as it is Modern Geometry!
