2014 Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

Every year, Pantone determines what color will dominate in the worlds of fashion, home décor, event planning and the like. For the year of 2014 Pantone chose “Radiant Orchid” as color of the year.  A beautiful combination of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, radiant orchid is a color chosen to spark creativity and imagination.  Leatrice Eisman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said this about their choice for Pantone color of the year, “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society…[it] inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Radiant orchid will continue to surface as the color of choice in more and more industries. One department in which it is already making an appearance is in the wedding planning industry. Centerpieces, wedding cakes, floral arrangements, table clothes, and lighting, will all start to reflect the Pantone color of the year.

It will also start to make an appearance in home décor. With its ability to spark creativity and imagination, Radiant Orchid would be a good choice for offices, craft rooms and kid’s rooms, though it can be used anywhere you desire.
